Bidblox November Newsletter

On our way to a lean, powerful MVP that packs real value for our customers!

Here are a few key updates in the last one month

  • We are just days away from launching our MVP—a minimal yet impactful solution designed to deliver real value to our customers. Our next goal is to onboard as many new beta users as possible, in addition to our dedicated design partners who have supported us throughout this journey.

  • Each week, we engage with 3-5 new prospects, a process that continues to uncover valuable customer pain points. These insights are directly shaping the features we’re building into our product.

  • We’ve had promising discussions with two of the largest players in the AEC sector, both of whom have committed to joining as beta users.

  • Additionally, we’re actively expanding our network of industry experts, connecting with at least two experts each month. These conversations are instrumental in validating our current features and shaping our roadmap for future developments. This month, we connected with representatives from two cities and a thought leader from an engineering firm.

  • We’re grateful to have the support and guidance of incredible mentors and industry champions (a few of whom we’ve acknowledged at the end of this letter).

What We're Building

November has been all about laying the groundwork for our MVP launch. While the work has been behind the scenes, it’s critical to delivering a secure, reliable platform.

What We’ve Been Up To:

  • Strengthening Security: We are working on prioritizing the protection of customer’s data with state-of-the-art security protocols and infrastructure. Robust measures, including encryption, access controls, and continuous monitoring, are implemented to safeguard sensitive information.

  • Proposal Generation Features: Our AI-powered tools are simplifying and accelerating proposal creation. With intelligent suggestions, our system is now able to craft professional, high-quality proposals more efficiently

  • Go/No-Go Checklist: A streamlined decision-making tool to help quickly evaluate RFP opportunities. By analyzing key criteria, the tool helps focus on the most promising opportunities, saving time and improving decision-making accuracy.

  • Cloud-Native Architecture: Our MVP is built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging Firestore for data storage, Cloud Run for server-less execution, and Vertex AI for fine-tuned machine learning models, scalability and reliability.

  • Native Development: Our platform is being developed with React, Node.js, and TypeScript, to ensure a seamless user experience and integrations.

  • OCR and Image Processing: With Google Cloud Vision API, we’re enabling intelligent extraction of key information from scanned documents and images, streamlining workflows for AEC professionals.

Who we collaborate with & our Project Focus

  • We are currently engaging with an average of 3-5 customers per week, which allows us to consistently validate and strengthen our sales pipeline, now comprising 60 high-potential prospects.

  • We’re collaborating with Humber College and the University of Waterloo to bring on co-op talent, accelerating our progress toward launching our product to market.

  • Our beta trial program is in development, aiming to onboard new beta users next month. Key components of the program include creating marketing collateral, identifying ideal prospects from our existing funnel, setting clear milestones, and educating users about the program's benefits.

  • We are developing our IP strategy and trademark filings, putting all the necessary building blocks in place to ensure our patent strategy is robust and secure.

  • Additionally, we had the privilege of participating in a Gensler event, which focused on empowering women in construction. This experience led to a follow-up meeting with the Gensler team and reinforced our commitment to fostering innovation and inclusion within the industry.

Events we Attended

  • Small Business Summit: An amazing day full of insightful sessions, expert speakers, and valuable networking opportunities within the SMB sector.

  • Gensler: Women in Leadership – Building Equity in Architecture, Design, & Construction (some photos from the event are included below).

  • Hyde Park: Off the Clock Networking event with Hyde Park Venture Partners.

  • Scale with Borders: A gathering of about 1,000 newcomers, employers, founders, investors, and government representatives, focused on supporting, hiring, and engaging newcomers in the tech industry.

What’s Next

  • Our goal is to onboard 10 beta users in December and January and gather their feedback on the use of our MVP.

  • We are continuing to focus on integrating niches within the pre-construction workflow into our product.

  • We aim to continuously evolve our beta trial program to ensure we deliver maximum value to our users.

  • We plan to keep engaging with new customers and having in-depth conversations with industry experts to refine our model and ensure our solution meets market demands.

  • Additionally, we’re holding 2-3 meetings each week with VCs and angel investors to collect feedback on our startup and prepare for our next funding round.

What we're seeking

  • Introductions to customers in AEC industry (in Canada & US)

  • Introductions to angels and VCs
